Third baseman Bill Hall expressed no regrets Tuesday about his injury-inducing adventure in left field the previous evening.

"I got in my 'Web Gem' before leaving," he said. "That's pretty impressive."

Hall referred to the charging, diving catch he made to rob Pittsburgh's Freddy Sanchez of a hit in the bottom of the first inning Monday. Hall tweaked his right hamstring on the play, and he had to leave the game the next inning.

Hall was out of the lineup for the second game against the Pirates but said he expected to be back in there Wednesday in Cincinnati.

"(Wednesday) it should be all good," Hall said. "It was a little stiff when I woke up (Tuesday) morning, but once I got in and we rubbed it out and got some heat on it, it loosened up."

Hall said he never had a problem with his right hamstring previously. But he did not second-guess manager Ken Macha for moving him from third base to left field on a one-night basis.

With Ryan Braun lagging behind the team to undergo an MRI on his ailing back in Milwaukee, Macha put Hall in left and started Casey McGehee at third to get more right-handed bats in the lineup against lefty Paul Maholm.

"I had fun out there while it lasted," said Hall.

BREWERS 8, PIRATES 5: On a cold, rainy night in which pitchers on both sides had trouble throwing strikes, the Brewers outlasted the Pirates on Tuesday to beat them for the 17th consecutive time -- the longest such streak in 39 years. J.J. Hardy did most of the damage, going 3-for-3 with two walks and four RBIs. Hardy entered the game with a .167 batting average and only two hits with runners in scoring position. There were 28 three-ball counts in the game, including 17 by Pirates pitchers. Pittsburgh also issued 10 of the 17 walks in the game as the pitchers had trouble coping with the slippery mound and wet weather.
