Milwaukee Brewers Notes, Quotes 2009-09-07

--RHP Yovani Gallardo will have his next turn skipped to give him more rest after he surpassed 3,000 pitches for the season Saturday. Gallardo missed most of last season with a knee injury and the Brewers are concerned about the toll on his arm this year. He will return to action Sept. 15 in Chicago.

--RHP Jesus Colome, activated Friday after 17 days on the DL with a forearm strain, was released. The Brewers said they wanted to open a 40-man roster spot to call up a pitcher from the minors who wasn't named. The Brewers signed Colome to a minor-league deal in July after he was released by Washington. In five relief appearances, he had a 5.68 ERA.

BY THE NUMBERS: 5-28 -- the Brewers' record when they score less than three runs.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's not about offense. It's about pitching. If you look at their run differential, it's pretty good." -- Manager Ken Macha, after his team lost back-to-back games to the Giants by a 3-2 score.
